Ahead of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's visit to Punjab on Thursday, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh lodging a strong protest at not being invited to the event that Rahul is slated to attend. Rahul Gandhi will attend a function in Punjab's Sangrur district where he will lay the foundation of a super speciality government hospital. Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will also be present at the event.
The Punjab Chief Minister is upset that he has been overlooked even though the state government had allotted 25 acres for the project. Badal, who is also the chief of the Shiromani Akali Dal, an important member of the NDA, has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, arguing that the function should be cancelled.
