Minutes before Alok Kumar Verma took charge as Delhi Police chief, the Commissioner's office on Monday witnessed high drama as a woman alleging corruption by police officials scurried into a lobby full of media representatives waiting for a briefing by the new top cop. The woman, carrying a two-month-old child in her lap, apparently unaware of what was going on in the police headquarters on Monday, made her way into the lobby outside the Police Commissioner's office, screaming that her in-laws were trying to kill her and the child. She told security officials there that she wanted to meet the police chief and report how officials in southeast Delhi's Jamia Nagar allegedly took bribe and gave a clean chit to her husband.
