The recovery of live ammunition dumped in the Upper Bari Doab Canal (UBDC) near Sunder Chak village once again sounded an alert in Pathankot on Sunday.
The police started a search operation after some local children taking bath in the canal, a tributary of the Ravi river, informed their parents about the ammunition.
Pathankot senior superintendent of police (SSP) RK Bakshi sent two officers to the spot to take possession of the two AK-47 magazines, one magazine of assault rifle and 29 live cartridges dumped near the banks of the tributary.
