Report on interference from political establishment speculative: CBI

The trouble for the Congress in the coal gate scam refuses to die down. The controversy threatens to embarrass the government yet again. This was after The Indian Express reported that the CBI is all poised to tell the apex court that the controversial probe status report submitted to it last month was vetted by Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and PMO officials. The report claims that CBI officials including director Ranjit Sinha, were summoned by the law minister days before the report was filed. During the meeting, also attended by key officials of the law ministry, several amendments in the status report were suggested and incorporated by CBI. Last month, the apex court had asked for a clarification from CBI whether the probe report had been shown to any government official. CBI claims that their probe report is independent and such news reports are speculative.
