Asaram to stay in jail, AIIMS report says he does not need any surgery

In a major setback to Asaram, the Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of his bail plea for four weeks. A medical report submitted in apex court said that Asaram does not need surgery, his ailments can be taken care of by medicines.
The Supreme Court granted two weeks' time to Asaram's lawyer to look into report submitted by medical board consisting of AIIMS doctors.
A medical board of AIIMS comprising seven members on January 1 had examined self-styled 'godman' Asaram Bapu following a Supreme Court direction in connection with his bail application in the Jodhpur rape case.
The apex court on October 15 had directed AIIMS Director to set up a medical board to review medical reports and if required clinically examine Asaram to ascertain whether interim bail should be granted to him in Jodhpur rape case.
