It'll be a SUPER moon lit night tonight. The Moon will seem especially big and bright tonight since it will reach its closest spot to Earth at the same time as it is in its full phase. The astrologers though predict natural calamities like Tsunami in the future ahead of the supermoon's appearance. Astronomers have pinpointed the time as 0334 GMT on Sunday... that's 9.04 pm in India. The NASA website says the Super moon will appear 14 percent bigger in size and 30 percent brighter than other full moons of 2012. Reports also say the moon will be at its closest to the earth since 1912.Beyond the scientific landmark... as expected there's a huge religious significance to the day.
From the religious view point, Chitra Poornima today coincides with Buddha Poornima, itself considered of huge religious significance. This is the first full moon of the Vedic New Year... and the most auspicious one of the Hindu calendar.
