Bhopal gas tragedy: CBI appeals to increase convicts punishment

India News: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has served notices on the Union carbide and the convicts in the Bhopal gas tragedy during the hearing of a petition field by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking direction to enhance the quantum of punishment given them here on Friday.

The bench of Justice MA Siddiqui directed the respondents to file their replies within four weeks.The court served notices on Mahindra Chairman and former Union Carbide Chairman, Keshub Mahindra, the then Managing Director of Union Carbide Vijay Gokhale, then Vice President Kishore Kamdar, Works Manager J Mukund, Production Manager SP Choudhury, Plant Superintendent KV Shetty and Production Assistant Shakeel Qureshi.
