'George Mendonsa Kissing Nurse Statue' Vandalized - Lots Of Money Needed To Fix It

A statue delineating the renowned scene of a mariner kissing a lady in New York's Occasions Square as individuals praise the finish of World War II has been vandalized with red splash paint explaining #MeToo.
The spray painting covers the lower leg to-knee zone of the left leg of the lady being kissed, said police in Sarasota, Florida where the statue is on credit to the city.
The vandalism is accepted to have been submitted Monday, multi day after the demise of the mariner in the famous photograph, George Mendonsa, at 95 years old.
In that picture, taken by picture taker Alfred Eisenstaedt Forever magazine, Mendonsa is seen euphorically twisting around and kissing a lady in a white medical caretaker's uniform.
Eisenstaedt has depicted viewing the mariner running along the road and getting any young lady in sight.
The #MeToo emerged to protect casualties of rape, provocation and misuse.
Sarasota police said there is no reconnaissance video from the territory of the vandalism or potentially known observers. They evaluated harm as costing $1,000 to fix.
