Red Carpet News reporter Melissa Hoban talks to acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar at the London premiere for Julieta this year's opening night gala for the Film4 Somerset House series 2016.
The new film Julieta co-starring Emma Suárez and Adriana Ugarte is based on a collection of short stories by author Alice Munro and deals with a mothers complex and mysterious estrangement from her daughter.
Almodóvar is arguably the most internationally acclaimed Spanish filmmaker since Luis Bunuel, having emerged as a star of La Movida, the counter cultural movement of late 70s Spain. Julieta joins a growing list of acclaimed dramas he has produced with psychological and sexual themes that translates powerfully cross international boundaries and traditional language barriers.
