How this Kosher Edibles Company Began as an At-Home Treatment for Autism

Shifra and Alex Klein didn't realize they'd be starting a business when, as a last resort, they decided to try cannabis to treat their son with severe autism. It took only half an hour after their son ate the cannabis cookie his mother had baked for him for the Kleins to realize a positive change. Seeing how well the cannabis worked for their son, they decided to make edibles available to those in their community — and such was the birth of their kosher edibles company Mitzvah Herbal. However, while many in the orthodox Jewish community are in need of medicinal cannabis, the Kleins have nonetheless faced stigmatization. Even so, their story shows that for medicinal and spiritual purposes, cannabis does play a role in Jewish life.
