Avenue of Stars shines again

Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars is reopening to the public on January 31, 2019, more than three years after it closed for renovation in October 2015.
Handprints of the city’s actors are now mounted on wooden handrails along the harbourfront. Ten more handprints from famous figures have been added, including a pig trotter print from Hong Kong animated icon McDull. The avenue features QR codes to allow visitors to learn more about local movies.
The Avenue of Stars had been a popular tourist attraction since it opened in 2004, and before its hiatus attracted more than 10 million visitors annually. Modelled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it honours celebrities in the Hong Kong film industry.
