You Can Build Muscle Exercising 13 Minutes Three Times a Week The findings are from a new study in the medical journal 'Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise.' In it, 34 male subjects were divided into three groups and either did 1, 3 or 5 sets of a high-intensity weightlifting exercise. The exercises consisted of completing a combo of squats, pull-ups and pushups in a slow motion. After doing the workout three times a week for two months, all groups showed similar gains in strength. This means exercising just 13 minutes will help you build muscle as opposed to an hour, which was the amount of time it took the 5-set group.
