Actor Gerard Butler has reportedly been hospitalized for a week in the Dominican Republic, due to uncomplicated diverticulitis.

Butler was reportedly dealing with abdominal pains for more than 72 hours.

Though doctors suspected appendicitis, an MRI and further examination revealed that the 49-year-old was suffering diverticulitis, an inflammation or infection in one or more small pouches in the digestive tract.

Butler will reportedly be discharged from the hospital soon.
