Paula and Emma attempt to drag an overturned truck out of a flooding river when the truck rolls, pinning Emma by the arm. David and Geoff fly in but encounter problems releasing Emma. A desperate David suggests they amputate her arm but Geoff insists they try all possible means before such desperate measures. The river is rising quickly and unless they act immediately Emma will drown. George Baxter arrives on the scene with much needed heavy machinery.
