Stay Alert, Stay Alive: How To Never, Ever Nod Off At The Wheel

The National Highway Transportation Safety Association estimates that 7 percent of all crashes and 16.5 percent of fatal crashes involve a drowsy driver. And while road trips can be enormous fun, too much driving can make you sleepy. Fortunately, Mother Nature Network has a number of healthy ways to keep yourself alert on the road. First, get good quality sleep the night before. Second, stay hydrated--drink plenty of water, but not too much caffeine. Third, keep your body moving in the car by "seat dancing" to loud music--but safely, of course! Finally, keep your mind awake by singing, playing road games like "I Spy," or listening to truly riveting podcasts. Safe travels!
