“ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤ ਵਿਰੋਧਤਾ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ, ਸਵਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਸਦਕਾ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਕਨੈਕਟੀਕਟ ਸੂਬੇ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ “ਨਵੰਬਰ 1 ਸਿੱਖ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ”
ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਸੰਦੀਪ ਚਕਰਾਵਰਤੀ ਕਾਊਂਸਲਰ ਜਨਰਲ ਅੋਫ ਇੰਡਿਆ ਨਿਉਯਾਰਕ ਨੇ ਨਵੰਬਰ 5 ਨੂੰ ਕਨੈਕਟੀਕਟ ਸਟੇਟ ਦੇ ਸੈਨੇਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ “ਨਵੰਬਰ 1984 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹਿੰਸਕ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਸਨ।
ਸੈਨੇਟਰ ਕੈਥਰੀਨ ਅੋਸਟਨ ਨੇ ਸੰਦੀਪ ਚੱਕਰਵਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਅਹਿਮ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ
“......ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ (ਸੰਦੀਪ ਚੱਕਰਵਰਤੀ) ਦੱਸ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਦੀ ਜੜ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤਿਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ਼ੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ”।
ਸੈਨੇਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿੱਖੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਦੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਦੀਪ ਚੱਕਰਵਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ “ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਜ਼ਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਮਤਾ ( ਸਿੱਖ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਮਤਾ) ਪਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕੋ ਇਕ ਮਕਸਦ ਹੈ, ਅਖੰਡ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜਨ ਦੀਆ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ”

“ਮੈਂ ਮੰਨਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਕੱਲ ਵੱਖਵਾਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਪਰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ (ਸਿੱਖ) ਹੋਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਭਾਰਤ) ਕਹਿਣ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਹਰਕਤਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮੰਨ (ਨਵੰਬਰ 1984 ਸਿੱਖ ਨਸਲਕੁਸ਼ੀ) ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਗਲਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ

I remember when we first started talking about the Genocide which happened in 1984 and quite frankly I was appalled.
But I did my research to make sure that..... and I would like to call up my college Kevin Ryne who is also here today... ..because I think it is something that is doomed to happen over and over if we don't recognize it and thats something that I think is important for people to know.
I was talking a little bit earlier today and I received a letter. Its basically a form letter. They (India) crossed out the "going to" and put my name and its not a letter of great import from my perspective from India. And it said....as I have...I will just read the one paragraph that I think sort of shows the denial of what has happened. It says:
"As I have explained before, the anti Sikh violence had its roots in years of terrorism perpetuated by Sikh terrorists and cannot be subject to selective analysis. The purpose of the people who persuaded you to support this State Resolution is to weaken the India Union through divisive policies and this you will agree that we cannot allow to succeed".
And I do agree that we should never allow divisive politics to be the order of the day. BUT as in any case where genocide has happened , the perpetrators of that genocide say "it wasn't me" and they often blame the victims saying that "it was what they (victims) did that
