U.S. expresses grave concern over N. Korea's human rights abuses against women

The United States has expressed its grave concerns about North Korea's human rights issues, in response to last week's damning report by the U.S.-based Human Rights Watch.
The report contains testimonies from North Korean women on how widespread sexual violence is in the North.
Voice of America on Monday reported that a State Department official said Washington continues to call attention to abuses against women in North Korea by amplifying the voice of women survivors.
The official said the Trump administration has been very clear about defending human rights, and will continue working with the international community to resolve the issue.
The official also highlighted that President Trump raised the regime's dire human rights record during his Singapore summit with Kim Jong-un in June.
