If it's Friday it's Firing on... This time Goodwood Road and Racing proudly presents the Ground-shaking AC Cobra 289. Enjoy the Music!!!
This is no ordinary AC Cobra – this is one of Carrol Shelby’s own AC Cobras, the very car his race team used to own and run. It’s a 1963 chassis with a 289 cu.in. small-block Ford V8, and for the first few years of its life it was campaigned extensively across the USA, scoring class wins at Laguna Seca and Hawaii. Famous drivers in period included Phil Hill and Dan Gurney, however the list of racers who have been at the wheel at the car’s many contemporary historic outings is almost as impressive…
At Revival you’ll be able to hear it running without the track-day silencers you can see in the vid. That doesn’t stop the V8 rumble sounding pretty good however, and we’ve pulled together some shots of the car testing at Goodwood ahead of this year’s Revival meeting for the gallery below. Enjoy!
