The legendary comedian would have turned 61 years old today. Born and raised on Chicago's South Side, Mac performed his first standup routine at the age of eight. He rose to fame in the film, 'The Original Kings of Comedy,' along with fellow comedians Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and
D. L. Hughley. His sitcom, 'The Bernie Mac Show,' gave him two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2001, Mac's film career took off with his role in 'Oceans 11.' On August 9, 2008, he died due to complications with pneumonia. Rest in peace,
