This is a short introductory video I put together showing glimpses of Lucas Torreira's quality so far at Arsenal.
Torreira is a rare midfielder. He's diminutive and agile on the ball yet very combative off the ball for his size. As a defensive deep-lying midfielder he understands his defensive responsibilities and sniffs danger out sharply and intensely before danger develops.
Lucas also has a high technical level on the bally. He uses it to keep things ticking over by releasing the ball early whilst covering the spaces left in midfield on attacks. His combination of technical prowess on the ball and combative interceptions/tackling with a man of his stature is rare but Arsenal have got him.
We have seen glimspes, but Lucas Torreira is one of the worlds top prospects in his position and it's brilliant for Arsenal to finally have a midfielder that is mobile and hyper aware in defensive situations yet technically secure and on the ball.
We're all curious to see how he integrates in the Arsenal team - we'll see how it happens!
