Kerala nun rape case: I’ve seen her being denounced by church, says NCW Chairperson

National Commission for Women Chairperson (NCW) Rekha Sharma spoke against the Kerala Independent MLA PC George calling a rape victim nun a prostitute. She said, “I am ashamed of such lawmakers who are giving these statements instead of helping women. NCW has already taken up the matter and we will write to DGP demanding strict action against him.”

On Saturday, Kerala nuns sat in protest to demand arrest of Bishop Franco Mulakkal who has been accused of allegedly raping a nun. Holding placards and banners, the nuns protest outside the High Court the nuns said that they have been denied justice by church authorities, police and the government bodies. The 43-year-old victim nun will hold a press conference in Kottayam today. This is the first time Kerala nuns are coming out in the open against church authorities.
