Business Insider reports that just hours after a shocking trade sent Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders to the Chicago Bears, the Bears reportedly gave Mack a six-year extension worth $141 million that will make him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.
Mack is the new highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
The deal comes just a day after Aaron Donald set a new high mark for defensive players. He signed a similar six-year extension with the Los Angeles Rams worth $135 million that included $87 million in guaranteed money.
Mack was the centerpiece of the Raiders defense. He comes to the Bears in the midst of an offseason spending spree in Chicago. It has brought in talent including wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel and tight end Trey Burton.
