North Korea rejects U.S. proposals on regime's denuclearization: CNN

Despite Washington's claims that the U.S. and North Korea are continuing to work together... North Korea seems to be heading in the opposite direction....rebuffing demands made by the U.S. in regards to denuclearization.
Park Hee-jun has the details. North Korea appears to be blocking Washington's demands for its full and verifiable denuclearization.
Citing senior diplomatic sources, CNN reported over the weekend that the U.S. has made a series of proposals on denuclearization to Pyongyang.
According to the sources,... those include "specific proposals," including a timeline.
But North Korea rebuffed all of them,... labeling them "gangster-like".

One of the proposals is believed to include the latest made by the Trump administration on the transfer of nuclear warheads.
According to American news website Vox,... U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggested handing over 60 to 70 percent of its nuclear arsenal,... and having them secured by the U.S. or a third country within eight months.
In return, the U.S. would lift economic sanctions and remove North Korea from its list of state sponsors of terrorism.
However, that proposal is reported to have been rejected by Kim Yong-chol, vice chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Despite the standoff,... the U.S. State Department says Washington will act quickly for progress on its nuclear negotiations with the regime.
A State Department spokesperson said the U.S. believes positive momentum is building,... and despite recent remarks made by Pyongyang stating otherwise,... the U.S. trusts North Korea will fulfill the promises it made during the Singapore summit in June.
