I am dedicated.
You, dedicated.
Our steadfastness towards one another becomes more solidified,
For we are aware of the other’s devotion to this union.
You and I,
We carve out for ourselves our own world in which we roam,
And the words of others do not assail us constantly.
Consciousness has reached its zenith,
And for that it ensures us that the cycle of love does not begin and end with one,
But it moves back and forth between.
These eyes of ours are fixed, not on getting our jollies,
Temporary carnal pleasures,
But on gray hairs and cardigan sweaters.
We are in it,
With no intentions of disavowing the commitment which we made one another—
For goodness sake, our names are etched into the bark of the tree.
