For many designers, the simple graphic tee became their first entry into fashion — a notion some may consider the epitome of early streetwear designs. A veteran of the practice, Mike Cherman continues to print for his brand ICNY Sport, interpolating uncomplicated graphics onto shirts made of quality materials like water repellent, sweat-wicking fabrics and reflective 3M strips. The basic process boils down to drafting a logo on his computer and printing it out with a vinyl cutter — this small step that thus launched countless careers in the industry.
