South Korean government approves budget to replace Japan's funds for sex slavery victims

The Korean government has approved a budget to replace Tokyo's roughly nine million U.S. dollar fund for the victims of Japan's wartime sexual enslavement.
The Cabinet approved plans on Tuesday to set aside the amount from the Gender Equality Ministry's fund.
Officials will come up with details on how to spend it, as well as how to deal with the money from Japan... after consultation with various parties including the Japanese government.
Tokyo created the fund for the Korean victims of Japan's wartime sexual atrocities,... following an agreement between the two countries in 2015.
However, the victims refused it, as the deal did not meet their demand for legal compensation.
