Fugitive Mehul Choksi 'cannot return' to India, says people are angry with me, fear for life
  • 6 years ago
After Vijay Mallya made a sorry excuse against his extradition to India, citing that jails are unhygienic here. Now Mehul Choksi has surpassed Mallya with an even more bizzare reason not to appear before the special CBI court in Mumbai. Choksi has said that he fears for his life due to the recent trend of mob lynching in India. He said there are people like employees, creditors and customers who are unhappy with him and that his safety is under threat. Apart from unfounded fears of mob fury against him, Choksi also cited his medical condition and prejudiced probe as well as the revocation of his passport as reasons why he cannot come back. He also claimed that his case is 'completely different from that of his nephew and yet the jewellery of his flagship companies has been attached.
