Acting Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he supported the move by former BN component parties in Sarawak to form their own coalition after BN's defeat in the 14th General Election.

Zahid also said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will return to BN if it captures federal power.

On June 12, Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg announced that four BN component parties in the state left the coalition to form a new alliance called Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Abang Johari said the coalition will be friendly with the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government.
