Jay-Z Sued Over Royalties From 1996 Album 'Reasonable Doubt' Raynard Herbert, or “Ray Rae,” sued Jay for breach of contract and unjust enrichment after he stopped receiving royalty checks in November 2008. As part of the distribution agreement for ‘Reasonable Doubt,’ Herbert claims he is owed 1 percent of the profits. In the suit, he also named Roc-A-Fella, Roc Nation, “Dame” Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke. Herbert alleges that he addressed the outstanding payments with the label in 2010, but there was no follow up. He’s asking for the percentage of the profits he is owed, as well as interest and damages.
