L'ispirazione per questi cinque musicisti bolognesi nasce da uno dei brani più celebri di Django Reinhardt, Minor Swing. Spinti dall'amore per il gipsy jazz, ma desiderosi di creare un loro proprio sound ibrido, decidono di riprendere i brani della tradizione manouche e provare a renderli loro, a contestualizzarli nella loro Bologna degli anni 2000.
Nel 2010 esce il primo album, “Mapo Salato”; seguono anni di concerti in Italia e all’estero, che permettono alla band di consolidare la loro forza nel live e di poter sperimentare, componendo nuovi brani, sempre più ibridi e contaminati.
Nel 2017, il quintetto è finalmente pronto per un nuovo disco, un nuovo viaggio e nuove esplorazioni: “Minor Mali” parla infatti di Africa, di mondo, di altrove, sempre usando note al posto delle parole, miscelando sempre più sonorità e stili musicali eterogenei.
The inspiration for these five Bolognese musicians comes from one of the most famous songs by Django Reinhardt, Minor Swing. Driven by love for gipsy jazz, but wishing to create their own hybrid sound, they decide to resume the traditional manouche songs and try to make their own version, to contextualize them in their Bologna of the 2000s.
In 2010 they released their first album, "Mapo Salato"; followed by years of concerts in Italy and abroad, which allow the band to consolidate their show and to experiment, composing new songs, more and more hybrids and contaminations.
In 2017, the quintet is finally ready for a new album, a new journey and new explorations: "Minor Mali" speaks about Africa, the world and elsewhere, always using notes instead of words, mixing more and more sounds and heterogeneous musical styles .
