LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday categorically declared that yjr General Election 2018 will be held on the scheduled date of July 25.

“We will ensure no delay in polls that will be held on July 25,” CJP remarked on Friday, while heading a bench constituted to hear the case of election commission’s code of conduct for upcoming General Elections in the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.

Lawyer Bilal Hasan Manto in his petition stated that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the code of conduct for 2018 General Elections which is against “agreed upon rules and regulations”.

“The court should declare the code of conduct null and void,” the petition stated.

While issuing a notice on the matter, Chief Justice ordered the chief election commissioner to submit a reply on the issue by June 4.

On May 31, the Election Commission of Pakistan by announcing the schedule of general elections put all speculations about the polls to rest.
