Uruguay Prepare For Their First Copa America Centenario Game Against Mexico

Uruguay midfielder Egidio Arevalo Rios on Friday warned that Luis Suarez's absence on Sunday against Mexico in the Copa America Centenario doesn't mean the Uruguayans will be easily defeated.

Uruguay on Friday trained at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, ahead of Sunday's game against Mexico in the Copa America Centenario.

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, who is currently injured, jogged on the side of the field while his teammates were training.

Earlier in the afternoon, midfielder Egidio Arevalo Rios pointed out during a press conference that Uruguay has played good games recently even in Suarez's absence.

"We won't have him this time but he is recuperating in full to return as soon as possible. But we know that at the beginning of the qualifiers we didn't have him either and we had great games, we won important games," Arevalo Rios said.

Defender Jose Gimenez said Mexico deserves a lot of respect, adding that Uruguay will do its best throughout the game both defensively and offensively.

"They are players that we have to respect, they are a team that we have to respect a lot. But we are relaxed because we have our weapons too," Gimenez said.
