The 12 year-old dog found himself sharing a home with vixen Ruby when she was abandoned as a three-day old cub.

She was taken in by Ray Allibone, 59, who hand-reared her and planned to return her to the wild.

But since then Ruby, now aged four, has settled into family life and got so close to Spartan the dog even grooms her face.

She also has her own enclosure and goes out for walks with Spartan on a lead.
