PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and opposition have reached a consensus over the name of Manzoor Afridi for the slot of the interim chief minister of the province to lead a caretaker set-up, ARY News reported.

Informed sources said K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and opposition leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman have evolved consensus to install Manzoor Afridi as the caretaker chief minister of the province.

Afridi’s name was initially mooted by the K-P government and later both the CM and opposition leader reached agreement over the name.

The chief minister is also said to have held consultation with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan over the caretaker set-up.

An official announcement of the name for the caretaker CM is expected to be made tomorrow.

Manzoor Afridi is the younger brother of Ayub Afridi, who was recently elected as member of the Senate on PTI ticket. He hails from Khyber Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and is a non-political figure.

He is uncle of Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi.
