John Abraham’s new film Parmanu is based on a real story about a covert operation in 1998. Despite severe diplomatic pressure, India went ahead and tested nuclear bombs. Codenamed Operation Shakti, it was a highly sensitive and covert operation. Even a small mistake could have led to the operation being abandoned. Only a handful of people knew about it. The then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and scientific adviser on this project, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam ensured that only the best were involved in the operation.
