In thisI show you, from start to finish, how to take rusty-old cast iron skillets; skillets that have been left out in the back yard for years. DECADES even and bring them back to life to use in your kitchen.\r
Old cast iron skillets from the early 1900s are some of the BEST cooking pans you can have. Not only because they cook well, but they are HEALTHIER than other Non-stick pans. They use less oil; they do not leach out per-fluorocarbons the repellent coating on non-stick pans, and they DO leach out some iron into your food.\r
And thats a good thing. Iron deficiency is fairly common worldwide, especially among women. In f, 10% of American women are iron-deficient. Cooking food, especially something acidic like tomato sauce in a cast-iron skillet can increase iron content, by as much as 20 times.
