Estación de Benaoján - Estación de Jimera de Líbar - Cueva del Gato

Se trata de un sendero fácil y de gran belleza situado en el Parque Natural de la Sierra de Grazalema, al oeste de la provincia de Málaga. Es un sendero clásico y es sólo un pequeño tramo de una red más grande llamada GR-141 (GR significa "Gran Recorrido"), que en total es de unos 115 km de longitud. Hay mucha gente dispersa a lo largo de la ruta y también está la posibilidad de tomar el tren de vuelta al punto de partida como yo lo hice. El viaje de vuelta en el tren apenas dura 7 minutos y mucha gente ni siquiera lo paga (no hay tiempo para que el revisor cobre a todos los senderistas, supongo :)
Después de bajar del tren fui a ver la boca sur de la Cueva del Gato. Este es un sistema de cuevas muy grande: tiene por lo menos 9 km de galerías, más de cien lagos y pozas, algunos de 100 metros de largo y salas de hasta 70 metros de altura. La gente local solía pensar hace 300 años que en la cueva había un templo dedicado a las deidades del infierno. Y muchas personas han muerto aquí, perdidas o ahogadas debido a la crecida del río Gaduares, que cruza la cueva. No hace falta decir que es sólo una cueva para espeleólogos expertos.

This is an easy and beautiful trail located in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park in the west of the province of Málaga. It is a classic trail and is just a small stretch of a bigger network called GR-141 (GR stands for "long trail"), which in all is around 115 km (70 miles). You can expect to find a lot of people scattered along the route and you also have the possibility of taking the train back to the starting point like I did. The trip back on the train barely takes 7 minutes and many people don't even pay it (no time for the ticket collector to charge all the hikers I guess :)
After getting off the train I went to see the south mouth of "Cat's Cave". This is a very large cave system: it has at least 9 km of galleries (5,5 miles) inside, more than a hundred lakes and pools, some are 100 meters long (330 feet) and rooms as tall as 70 meters (230 feet). Local people used to think 300 years ago in the cave there was a temple devoted to deities from hell. And many people have died here, either lost or drowned due to the swelling of the Gaduares river that crosses the cave. Needless to say it's only a cave for expert speleologists.
