Chinese maritime officials cordon off Bohai Strait in possible preparation for new 001A sea trials

Chinese maritime officials have announced that the Bohai Strait and an area north of the West Sea will be cordoned off for one week starting today.
Military observers believe the restrictions are part of preparations for sea trials of China's new 001A aircraft carrier.
The areas are close to the shipyard in the northeastern province of Liaoning where the carrier was built, and similar restrictions along the Bohai Strait have been put in place during the last month.
