The inside part of a window broke during severe turbulence on an Air India flight on Thursday.

Three people were injured when the Boeing 787 Dreamliner bound for Delhi from Amritsar encountered the turbulence shortly after take off.

The inside of a window panel (18-A) came off and a few oxygen masks also dropped.

Fortunately for the passengers, the outside window did not break and there was no de-pressurisation.

The overhead panel cover of seat 12-U also developed cracks.

A video shows an air hostess trying to fix the damaged window and comforting the terrified passenger sitting next to it.

Media reports said the turbulence threw up a passenger, who did not have his seat belt fastened, and made him bang his head against the overhead cabin. Two others were also injured in the turbulence.

The plane continued with its flight without aborting and the three passengers were treated for minor injuries after they landed in Delhi.

Indian air safety officials have launched a probe into the incident.
