A senior official from the U.S. State Department will visit South Korea,... for three days early next week,... ahead of next Friday's Inter-Korean summit.
The State Department says Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton will be in Seoul from April 22nd to 24th,... before visiting Japan.
It added that, during her stay in Northeast Asia,... Thornton will reaffirm U.S. alliance commitments,... and coordinate with U.S. partners,... on issues of importance, including North Korea.
