Preserving old Shanghai | FT World

After 30 years of chasing development before anything else, many Chinese cities are now rediscovering traditional architecture and learning to preserve their old buildings. The FT's Patti Waldmeir visits some of Shanghai's historic neighbourhoods and talks to those living in the shadow of the city's skyscrapers.
