Child Suffers Minor Injuries After Being Thrown From Car During Crash

A child was ejected through the back window of a vehicle involved in a car crash in Winter Haven, Florida, on Sunday, March 25, and was in good condition, according to police.The driver of a silver Buick LeSabre was stopped at a stop sign at the corner of Avenue K Northwest and Highway 17 with two children in the backseat before pulling out into the path of a maroon Ford F-150. The truck hit the driver’s side back door of the LeSabre.The impact caused the Buik to spin counter-clockwise, which is when the two-year-old boy was ejected through the back window and landed on the sidewalk on the other side of the road. The Buick rolled backwards and missed him by about five feet.The driver of the Buick and her three-year-old daughter were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and were released. The boy was flown to a hospital in Tampa and was in good condition. He was expected to be released on Monday or Tuesday, according to police.The passenger of the truck to the hospital was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition with injuries to her leg.Police said they were investigating to determine if the car seats in the Buick were properly installed and if the children were secured correctly.This surveillance footage shows the crash in the upper right corner of the video.
