ESP8266 Programming Over Wi-Fi (OTA) With Arduino IDE (Mac and Windows)

In this video we go over the process, step-by-step, of how to use the Arduino IDE for programming your ESP8266 wirelessly (Over-The-Air), that is, without being connected to the computers USB port. Weve covered in other videos how to use the Arduino IDE to upload code to your ESP8266. Weve done this by connecting the board over USB to a computer, and using the IDEs upload function.\r

In this video well modify a built-in example of the firmware thats needed for OTA. Once modified and uploaded over USB, this firmware will allow us to select a special port in the Arduino IDE, and use the wireless (OTA) programming method for additional uploads.\r
\r
On Windows, please make sure you install either iTunes or Bonjour so that your computer can see the ESP8266 over the Wi-Fi network (it uses mDNS):\r

Also, do not forget that OTA updates only work with ESP8266 boards with at least 8Mbit/1MByte memory (not the ESP-01). --nzm TINKER\r
