Black Spotted Leopard Versus Caracal - Big Cats Play Attack & Wrestle Friend At Cat Breeding Center

Watch the friendship between a Caracal, Spotted and Black leopard as they grow up and play fight. These three all started out together about the age of 2 months.\r

Oli, the caracal came from a breeding center and was rejected because of a deformity with his reproductive organs. Nova the black leopard was purchased through donations as a potential mate for another leopard on the compound. It turned out Nova was not the correctto mate ;) And Aurora was born at Cheetah Experience from a successful mating. All three arrived about the same time so they became instant friends when put together. The friendship lasts even today.\r

I think their play is entertaining but serves a purpose for wild predators as they home their skills in preparation for the real thing. These animals cannot be released and the purpose of breeding endangered species is to increase the declining numbers worldwide. I dont know of a program that trains leopards for release, but this facility is approaching the goal of trailing and releasing cheetahs.\r

Enjoy Oli, Aurora, and Nova at the life game of play attack. These leopards are training not to bite, scratch, and jump on their keepers through loud clap scares, avoidance and if necessary direct discipline. As a result, they play attack each other.\r

CEs philosophy of animal care is to allow direct cont with the animals. it allows for better care and transport when you have an animal that does not fear you but respects and likes you. Theres added risks of course, but the process is strictly enforced. When you have an animal that likes you, you can provide better health care by direct examination, application of medicine and physical transport without the need for dangerous tranquilization. And for animal loves like me, the rewards are immeasurable.\r
