Shepard Fairey and Sum 41 drummer Frank Zummo unveil one-of-a-kind drum kit at Hard Rock Hotel

On Friday, Shepard Fairey, the celebrated street artist, graphic designer and founder of Obey Clothing, unveiled a drumkit he created with Sum 41 drummer Frank Zummo. Entitled "Rise Above," the kit is based on Fairey's art piece of the same name. The drums are decorated with golden mandalas, which are the Indian spiritual symbols for peace and harmony in the universe. The mandalas are made of gun parts, however, as the kit is a commentary on gun control. “It’s about rising above our more base failures in dealing with other beings like we want to be dealt with, rising above aggression, rising above reactionary behavior, rising above violence," Fairey explained. The drum kit is currently on display at the Hard Rock Hotel near the main entrance of the property’s All-Suite Tower.
