Physical sales, which are comprised of both CDs and vinyl albums, made up 16 percent of the overall revenues. Another business who may be shutting the doors on CD sales is Target. Target is negotiating with record labels on how it pays them, demanding that music suppliers take the inventory risk on CD sales. According to Billboard, Target wouldn’t pay music labels for CDs until after they’re sold to customers.
