Petrol bomb thrown at Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s Yangon home: govt
  • 6 years ago
A spokesman for the government in Myanmar says a petrol bomb was thrown at a lakeside villa of the country's State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday.
She was out at the time and no one was injured, but housing equipment was said to be partially damaged.
Police are said to be searching for a male suspect and they have not yet commented on a possible motive.
It was a rare attack on the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who enjoys strong domestic support.
But, she has been heavily criticized globally for failing to stake a stand against army abuses against Rohingya Muslims.
