As you know, marketing and advertising is directed to certain target audience. For example the soda commercials always target young people and not pensioners. Apparently people not familiar with the word SEX are outside the target audience of the ads with a word "sex" embedded in them.
Besides, the word SEX is not some kind of magic word, embedded in certain product it's simply supposed subconsciously to arouse pleasant associations which will make you sympathize with that product. It won't work on person who had some traumatic sex-related experience, vice versa.

That's about sex in commercials. What it is doing in cartoons - I can only wonder.
