Cooking an egg during a heatwave with just the sun and a frying pan

When the gas ran out on the hob, this science-mad dad from Australia decided to see if he could fry an egg in the sun.

Jacob Strickling first placed the frying pan out in the sun for 30 minutes on a day when the mercury soared to 35 degrees Celsius.

When the black base of the pan had absorbed enough heat, he cracked in the egg and fried it successfully.

According to Strickling, he enjoyed his egg on toast sunny side up.
