Tapeworms: Sushi-lover finds 5-ft-long tapeworm chillin inside - TomoNews

FRESNO, CALIFORNIA — A sushi fanatic from Fresno ended up with a 5-foot-long tapeworm, and doctors think the ridiculous amounts of raw fish may be the reason.

The man went to the the ER and complained about bloody stool. The doctors did not think anything particular was up until the dude pulled out a tapeworm from a grocery bag.

Turns out the tapeworm was actually 5-and-a-half feet long. The man said it felt like his guts were coming out on the can. He then tried to grab the little fellow, but it started moving.

The CDC had released reports of contaminated Alaskan salmon being infected with Japanese broad tapeworm parasites.

The man and his doctor figured out it was his daily feast of salmon sashimi that was most likely the cause.

The guy is now taking medication and has given up sushi — for now.
